Something burned up... Advice?

'03 Evo, 117,XXX miles. One day the Evo is running fine, next day dummy lights all light up (those that are't always lit up!), and a minute later I smell what I believe to be electrical burning. Evo was only running a few minutes, 25mph. I pull into my garage, a little smoke from hood vents on passenger side (c.f. hood), but it's gone by the time I unlatch hood and pop open. Next day, no power when I turn key.
I looked all around, can't see anything visible. Other than cel and smell, car was behaving fine. I did a visible check on fuses, but don't know how to check the block style ones. Closest Mitsu dealer is a 4 hr. drive .
Any thoughts?

I would say if your completely lost and you think it might be a relay just smell them each !
I would check the wiring going to the starter , alternator and then the engine harness !
Also might have killed the battery to top it all off !

Thanx. I'll have to trailer it to my stepdad's garage and take off the skid plate to look under. Any other ideas anybody?

I'd check all the electrical connections, like 02-Lancer-Es said, if all your lights came on, somethng leads me to believe its the alternator having fried or maybe a short that caused a tiny fire with the harness/fuses. Was your car already running (for how long if it was), or was it on a cold start?

Cold start, alternator is only a year old, headlights are not coming on.
