Tranny not aligning to engine

I can't get the tranny to align with the engine. I can get one guide post to align but the other is off. Does the xfer case need to be completely off in order to mate the tranny to the engine? Thoughts, ideas?

make sure the tranny is straight inline when you stick it. too low or too high, and it won't go.

Exactly. It's gotta be just right. Another trick is to rotate it as you're sliding it all together.

check and make sure the tranny is not hitting on the TC . i pushed the TC back some since it was hitting and preventing to push the tranny in further. maybe lower the engine some more
