Question Air Fuel Controller or Boost Control

Hello,

I got some extra $$$ to spend on and I only can afford either an Air Fuel Controller (like the Apex SAFC or the HKS AFR) or EBC; i was thinking of the greddy profec B ver 2.

Which one of them that could help in putting some hp?

I got the following mods: exhaust, dp, intake and bov with recirculation kit also some ground kit.

yeah i know if i can get both of this, it will produce lots of hp but I aint got enough money to get both of them unless I go with the MBC (or should I ?)

Any other suggestion/input is welcome.

Thanks in advance

Best - Both would be nice but i know you don't have enough $$$ to spend on both so...

Go for boost controller to hold your boost first then if you get the safc later, it will be excellent. Forget MBC, they are cheap but that's about it. Go for the profec b or v2 like you wanted which is very simple and straightforward and more than enough for most people. EBC rules (control at your fingertip). Now b4 anybody out there goes into the argument about MBC vs EBC, that's just my own 2cents, so don't waste your time.

g'luck

I've heard that the JoeP MBC is one of the best out there. All the guys on the WRX boards wet their pants about them, and I think a few members here have some as well. They are only $45.

But I would save extra cash and get both. Actually, I would Just save lots of money and wait for the UTEC.

Try find this ebc if you can http://www.turbosmart.com.au

Its called E-boost... i have one and its great! The unique feature of this over other EBCs is that this has wastegate/actuator pressure control so you can set how soon you want the boost (for higher torque) or overboost for that extra kick at lower revs...

Read up the reviews.. nothing but good things said about it... I'd go for an EBC 1st before all else because the stock soleniod fluctuates all over the chart! Aftermarket EBCs level them so you get a clean level slow tapering boost all the way to redline...

If you want an SAFC, i believe ApeXi has the SAFCII now... anyway, I'd save up more money to get something like the Autronics SMC or SM2 and totally skip the SAFC because the gains you get from there are only marginal against a management system that allows you to adjust everything and has things like AntiLag and LaunchControl... (Note this is the top of the range computer for all out mods..) and it comes with the software to be run on your laptop/notebook in English! Unlike the HKS FCON pro (which only the Japs have the software and its in Japanese )

Talking

Why don't you just save $1000 to get an engine management system from AEM? About the same price if you were to buy both the SAFC and BC.

Just more 2centz...

EBC are a waste of money, get an MBC for 50 bucks, TurboXS for 70, rock steady and never have to worry about a solenoid failing and overboosting your car to death, plus no complicated electronic boost settings and crap like that... and the best part is you can still get the S-AFC..
Buschurs car runs 11's and OH MY GOD!! hes using a MBC!!

If you want a good boost controller read up on this one, and before all you guys yell out "Ebay CRAP!". I run this, it is so smooth and precise you won't want to go back to the others. It is based upon the same principals as the TurboXS High Performance dual adjustment boost controller. It's made of brass so you won't get the internal oxidation, white powder stuff, that you do out of an aluminum mbc, which leads to bad boost spikes. I love it, and you can't beat it for $40 shipped if you do the buy now option.

Is SAFC II much better than the HKS AFR? I thought of getting the AFR since AFR got the BOV correction (dont know whether if it really does solve the stalling issues or not)

im kinda newbie into this turbo and boost thingy, ok so the MBC is GREAT for turbo car and but I have to keep on tune it from time to time?

What about EBC, do I still have to tune it from time to time like when weather changes and all?

coz I have no idea how to tune or anything like that

Definately get a boost controller first. Whether it's an EBC or MBC just depends on personal preference but they both control boost with almost the same efficiency. If you get an EBC which is what I did, the HKS EVC is a quality unit and it has a display screen with a digital boost gauge. 2 in 1. I like it. Anyway, instead of SAFC or AFR I opted for the Greddy emanage because it has so much more features. It's almost like a mini stand alone, but it's a piggyback! Ignition, extra injector(s), VTA BOV, and more I can't remember. It's a little more but well worth it IMO. Hope this helps

If your looking for most hp gain i believe that the afc would give you the most but i would look at getting a mbc, even if its only until you can afford an ebc.

so you're saying that I should get the afc and a mbc?

yeah I've thought of that too but if I have to tune the mbc from everytime the weather changes, or whatsoever then its so hmm...complicated thats why I posted here wanna see what other people's thought
