Would you use these cams?

Hey guys, I got a set of Kelford 272's off of ebay and they were described as:

Up for bid is a set of Kelford 272 cams for the EVO 8 with about 5k miles on it. The cams are in good condition with minor scuffing on one of the exhaust cam bearings but had NO ISSUES what so ever.

Some scoring is not that uncommon to see, but when I got them this is what the "minor scuffing" was.

Maybe my definition of minor is different, but I think this cam is junk. Am I just being paranoid or would I be able to run these with no issues as the seller suggested?

Thats a mess. If you keep them, take them to a machine shop and have them welded and turned down. You drop those in now and you can kiss you bearing/head good -by.

+1 find the best machine ship in your area, have them weld the scuffed area and machine a new groove. its not completely fried so dont lose all hope!

This is why i keep one of my blownup softball bats around the house... Just in case i need to visit an unhonest seller...
Its not worth the risk to your head, either do as the others suggested and take them to a machine shop to have them repaired or pony up and buy yourself a new cam ($250?)

Agrees, there is no way that I would install that cam. If the seller described that as minor scuffing he either does not know hat he is talking about or is not being honest.

sucks to received those cams, however they look worse than they appear imo.

if you must use those & cant get your money back, just take them to a automotive machine shop & have them use a crank polishing belt on the journal & smooth it out / knock the egdes off the ridges.

lets face it, they're only oiling retaining grooves now! just like that big mama in the center!

knock down any / all high spots & you should be fine.

wouldnt be my first choice of cams to buy.
