Best clutch around $800

Looking for a clutch under $800. Also was looking into a kit with a flywheel. Have read allot of reviews of people stating they would never get a aftermarket flywheel again but no one gives any reasons why? A light weight flywheel sounds great to me? Thanks in advance!

P.S. Any way to make the clutch pedal a softer push? Not complaining but had knee surgery and the damn things still week AF. Weak knees on a stiff as rock clutch is not fun when i commute 400 miles a week.

I run an ACT prolite with a comp stage 3.

After running a lite weight flywheel I wouldn't do it again. It sacrifices fairly significant driveability for minimal performance gains.

The engine revs and decels quicker but it's harder to start in 1st gear. It takes more finesse to not stall or over rev on take off.

I'm not sure but a lite flywheel might be more prone to clutch chatter. I did experience it but you could work it out learning how to engage it the way it wanted to.

My clutch just failed on me and I'm also deciding on what to get next. I think I'm going to try to get my stock flywheel that I still have resurfaced.

I'm leaning towards a comp stage 2 even though I had a stage 3 fail in 10,000 miles with very little abuse. It seems like the best bargain out there for something a little more than stock. They have been redesigned since I bought mine in 09 as well.

Stainless clutch line and remove restricter pill for lighter clutch. The differance is very noticeable.

Try the new competition HD...its available with a variety of disc types for your driving needs. English racing tested it and has been going strong for at least several thousand miles now. It seems to be preferred over the ACT for drivability and the price can't be beat at under 500 for the full face organic. English wrote a nice review which is in the service and parts review section...they included a few videos also. Its for sale with them and MAP.

I use ACT HD (+/-$550) in my car. Almost 450 whp with 390 ft/tq and no problem!!!

My car is an Evo 4 but I use a stock Evo 7 flywheel.

Aftermarket flywheels are fine, but lightened flywheels do sacrifice drivability. If you commute a lot, I'd suggest stock weight flywheel.

Check our site for a bunch of clutches in your price range. http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/t...on_92_07&r=115

ACT HD is a very good clutch for the price. my friend was at 430whp with plenty of launches on it and never had a problem.

Without question, I vote for the Competition HD clutch as you cannot beat the price as well as the fact that you can still use the OEM flywheel. Contact Adam @ MAPerformance for a great deal.

No, not normal. Your mileage will depend vastly on your power level and how you drive it. Mine is far from worn out. It has some kind of internal disk failure that is preventing it from disengaging. I haven't taken it apart yet but I'm guessing I'll find a spring fell out of the hub or something like that.

I can watch the PP move just fine through the inspection hole. It looks great, but it never disengages.

I was quite easy on my clutch partially because I did do the job myself and I didn't want to have to do it again so soon. I'm really disappointed but I understand failures happen and I did have a very early version of the clutch that has now been revised.

From what I read on here there's a lot of evo owners who don't even get that out of their clutches. Out of everything on the car it seems to be a part that is hard to keep working.
