I would just like a few opinions on this subject. My car has 72k miles and my clutch just started slipping. This is my daily driver. It only happens under load but appears to be only at highway speeds. If I am driving around town and get on the gas it doesn't seem to slip.

For example I'm cruising at 65mph on the highway in 5th gear and if I floor the gas once the turbo spools up the clutch slips letting the RPMs rise about 1k and when the clutch catches finally all is well. How long would you drive the car in this condition?

More info: I do not launch my car but I do have fun with it. I bought it at 19k miles so I do not know how it was treated. All maintenance is performed on schedule, everything is up to date. No problems previously.

Change it out as soon as possible. It's a pull style clutch and it only gets worse from there.

change it..and if you want it to at least last you a little longer.Dont beat on it or boost at all

mine started to slip about three months ago and ive bin babying it ever since, gets great mileage but its no fun. I just got a replacement upgrade since i am making more than stock and dont feel like replacing it for a while.
i just bought the act md-7hdss from awd motorsport and they shipped it next day. great price too!!

Figure, when you order the clutch it will be a back order and when you try to schedule shop time they will be booked. So, the time to start moving is now.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Gotta love www.mitsubishiparts.net! I found the clutch parts already just trying to decide if I am going to replace the flywheel or not (dealer says they would replace the flywheel at the same time to be safe). Going with stock parts.

If you got 72K on the stocker, another stocker sounds like a good choice.

Anyone know approximately how much a stock flywheel runs? I have not been able to find a part number anywhere, I've been searching like mad.

While searching for a part number I happened upon Exedy's site and I noticed they have the MF04 flywheel available. Amazon has it for $334 and free shipping (Prime). I'm wondering if I should go that route and also pickup the Exedy OEM replacement clutch kit (MBK1001) for $270.43 with free shipping.

Mitsubishiparts.net has a OEM clutch kit for $299.99. It doesn't list the part numbers of the individual parts of the kit on the site. I did some research and came up with the part numbers for the parts which when bought together are more than the kit price @ $312.48.

Clutch Disc - MN132206 - $111.73
Pressure Plate - 2304A019 - $134.59
Throw Out Bearing - MR145619 - $66.16

Hopefully this helps someone else, found the OEM flywheel part #, it is MD373136.

I've parked the car for now, last thing I need is to get on the highway and have it slip like mad.

Flywheel ordered, now to get the rest of the parts and get it in the shop.

It might be too late but you can just get your flywheel resurfaced when you install the new clutch. The shop that did my last clutch install had the OEM flywheel resurfaced at a local machine shop for $50.
