Been doin homework and looks like time for clutch....
Ok so I been searching and looks like I found a couple posts with people in same boat as me.
I noticied many like me have a evo making about 320 awhp and want a stock feel.
I have 78k on orginal clutch. I dont goto the track but like to get on it and do some empty road take offs. Its a daily driver.
Like many money is a issue.
I am leaning towards the Clutchmasters FX200 or the ACT EVO Street Disc Clutch Kit.
Both seem good. But from the posts the lock out of the ACT seems a issue. I read both sides of the arguements. I also found a post from a guy who had lock out with the Clutchmaster. So Kinda torn.
I also plan on either getting the flywheel resurfaced or getting a new replacment stocker. I dont want the hassle of a lightened one. I read posts and 50% say resurfacing is ok and other 50% say replace. The mitsu mechanic told me he usually just resurfaces them unless really bad hot spots. I'm having trouble finding a place that sells them cheap. Dealer wanted 500+
So any info or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

If you got 78k out of the stocker you might consider just getting another stock clutch...
Also, why do you say "looks like time for clutch...."? Has yours started slipping?

Well I didnt do the mods on the car till it had about 40k miles on it. So not sure how long it would of lasted if I didnt do the mods. lol Just thought with the extra HP I would drop a better clutch in and have a little extra piece of mind.
It is slipping in 4-6th gear if you get on it. Rpm's jump then it catches. So I been driving like grandma till I get the money together and order my stuff in couple weeks.

I have a ACT clutch with their light weight flywheel for over two years now and I'm very happy with this combo. No issues at all with a lighter flywheel and no lock out issues ever. I'm in the 320 whp range as well and this clutch is doing great, feels pretty close to stock thats why I like it.
Anyone try this one?
Stage 2 - Street Series 2100 Clutch Kit
This assembly provides an estimated 80% increase in torque capacity and is properly suited for aggressive street use and moderate track use. The Carbon Kevlar material with its alloy backing matched to a performance pressure plate will provide smooth engagement and extended life. 500 mile break-in highly recommended with this set-up. 300 mile break-in REQUIRED with this set-up. (Some kits may not be supplied with all pieces. Please verify with Competition Clutch before ordering).
The 2100 Series kit includes a performance pressure plate, a high torque sprung disc with antiburst steel backed Carbon Kevlar facings, all applicable bearings, and the appropriate alignment tool.

Just went through this exercise. I have the ACT HDSS with lwfw. Chatters something awful. I went twin disk. I don't want to have to mess around anymore clutch wise. After I priced out new clutch + fly wheel was worth the extra bucks in my opinion.
I have an ACT in my car, I don't really care for the clutch but it hasn't given me any issues yet. I have the 2900 6 puck in my DSM, and i hate that clutch.
When I end up doing a clutch in the evo i'm planning on using one of the COMP series. They seem to be a pretty decent clutch.

I ran Act clutch/flywheel on my previous car without any issue at 380tq. Now on my evo, previous owner installed act clutch/ resurfaced flywheel, idk how many milies on but seems pretty good and easy to drive.
ok, ACT dosent have a lockout issue, their clutches are great, i have a extreme in my car. The only reason people have these lockout's is because of improper install. My friend also has a ACT in his 10 sec 240sx and dosent have lockout's.
i love my act hdss. works great in my car with close to 500whp. i also have 60k miles on my act at this power level with no problems
the act hdss or xtss is the only way to go for a street car. if you need to hold more power get an exedy twin or triple.
never get a puck stye clutch for a street car it will make you hate driving your car
