Tranny problems
Tranny problems
He guys, just out of curiosity...have any of you had any trouble with second gear???? The car only has about 600 miles on it and in the past week has gotten pretty rough going in second....actually it is a pretty damn nasty grind if you try and open it up at all. This is the first car i've had like this, always had camaros and such. I thought maybe it was me or the newness, but it has gotten worse. i guess i'm gonna have to head back to the dealership. I had read alot about the stainless cable kit, but it only grinds in second, the rest of the gears are a little "chuncky" if you could say....any help or suggestions?
Changed to Redline about 1000 miles ago and now for some reason it makes a grinding noise when I go into 5th. SO the chagning the tranny fluid wont always "cure" your problem. Lots of people have had their tranny replaced already.
My car occasionally grinds going into second also. I find it usually does it if I'm being lazy with my shifts or if I'm really getting on it(above 5k) and not thinking about the shift. However, I can say it was more of a problem when the car was new. I have 17k on it now and hardly ever notice it anymore. I think you just have to devlope the technique.
FWIW I'm not a big fan of synthetic oil in the transaxle. I believe that it almost lubricates to well. Meaning it does not let syncros slow down enough between shifts to do their job. I'm sure if you played around with additives and different blends you could probably find something that works well. I'm just to lazy.
Anyway, give it some time. Let your tranny get properly broken in and give yourself some time to get more used to the car and I bet the problem will cure itself.

a word from someone who has had this problem in dsm's
GM sychromesh
won't completly eliminate the problems, just make then smoother on the shifts
then again if you have 600 miles on the car, id do one of two things. be nicer to the tranny, or take it in for warranty
