that's enough! re-installing my Cat
that's enough! re-installing my Cat
I had my de-cat done a month ago, the car get so dirty so fast. There're these black dust all over the rear bumper and trunk lid, it's very oily and require lots of soap. It is also meanningless to clean because it gets dirty again the next day.
I think I've had enough, will put the cat back in.

that sucks dude, i havent had any problems with removing my cat, but then again i dont have an evo so its prob a ton differnt.
good luck with finding a new solution, andi think that perhaps the high flow cat might work alot better.

I went with a highflow 3" and I love it. besides it is fully legal and the car does not get as dirty.

Just wondering.. do you know what your AFR is running at? The purpose of the cat is to remove excess fuel and stuff from our exhausts.. but if you are running a little leaner (than stock..) then you should have a much cleaner rear end... sounds to me like you are having lots of incomplete combustion thus producing a lot of carbon. Consider leaning out the fuel a little before you take out your cat... it may work...

Technically its illegal to replace your cat unless it is damaged,. Even then, the dealer waranties the replacement and I think you are obligated to take them up on it. Obviously, its not an easily enforceable law and certainly seems a bit restrictive (why not go after the old jalopies on the road and get some emissions control device on them).

Don't know if I trust that link 100% given answer to the last question:
Q: My friend took his catalytic converter off of his truck, he said that this increased his horsepower – is this true?
A: No, on any newer vehicle that has a computer and/or O2 sensors it will cause the engine to loose all of its low-end horsepower.
LOL That one is funny..
I guess I do have a legit reason to replace my cat.. the car was rear-ended and the exhaust (an aftermarket) got crushed and damaged the entire system beyond repair..

No officer, i leaned it out because my rear end was getting dirty
I have very little dust acculumation after about a tank full (300 miles) . It sprays right off when I wash it. I still don't understand where all the complaints come from when they say the car absolutely stinks. I rarely smell the car at all. My supra on the other hand... smells like a turbo car without a cat. Cheers

I thought you could also replace the stock cat after 50k miles, not just when it's broken.

I forget the exact mileage/damage level, but its something like that.
