Question Help, broke something while tweaking BOV

Hey all,

I got it in my head to change the orientation of my forge BOV. Currently, it's reversed from stock oriention. The sad thing is it works very well, but I decided to mess with it anyway.

Today, after cutting the hell outta my hand on the damn fan shroud, I ended up bagging it and returning it to the opposite orientation. Vac line was too short since I trimmed it for the reverse orientation. I went to start the car this morning, and no go. WTF?? I looked, and I had broken the brown electrical looking plug that goes into the block. I'll try to get a pic, but I need to order a new one ASAP. There is one bolt on it, and it looks like I just have to replace the one part (I hope).

Does this make any sense?

TIA!

You probably broke the connector to the CAS (cam angle sensor). Just connect the wires back with hi temp/gas/oil resistant wire from a hardware store. If you broke the connector, just buy one from the dealer.

It was tough, but I managed to do it ... As Beltran said, I think it's the cam angle sensor, the black plug with wires at the top of this pic, to the upper left of the BOV:

It must have been when I was pulling on the BOV to remove the hoses...

Anyway, can someone please id it (part number would be awesome if you have it). The black piece snapped, so I should be able to replace it and re-attach the wire clip, right?

BTW. evolutionm tune means I started with baseline settings from posts on here. I started more conservatively, then tweaked slightly from knock sensor readings and whatnot. This year I hope to get it dyno-tuned.

Thanks again.

Did you snap the receptacle right off of the cam angle sensor?

If so, you are probably SOL. You will probably need to buy a new CAS.

If you just destroyed the harness side of the plug, you are still SOL, since they don't sell the connectors seperately.

Personally, I'd get in there with some spade connectors and a solering iron and hack it up to fix it.

Hey guys,

Well I found the part number for reference: MD327107

Dealer wanted $70 + tax. Got it from Mitsubishiparts.net for $50 with 2nd day shipping.

I fugged up the connector, so I don't think I can salvage it.

Thanks all,

Hi,

Still waiting for the new CAS, this sucks. I can remove the cas itself (just the one bolt), but I'm a friggin idiot and I'm not sure how to remove the harness, and I definitely don't want to break it too.

Does just the brown part with the wires disconnect, or does the actual black piece disconnect where the weird orange things are? I know, I'm a tool.

The harness clips onto the CAS. You broke the CAS so a piece of it is still clipped into the harness connector. Just squeeze the tab on the connector and you should be able to pull (or gently pry with a small flat blade screwdriver) the remaining chunk of the CAS out. Just unbolt the other portion from the head and bolt the new one in and clip the harness connector back on. You'll be fine.
