On all USDM Evo VIII and IX models the 5-spd. gearing is the same across the board. So, in the U.S.A. the RS gearing does not differ from that of the other models such as GSR, etc.

On JDM, British, European and other world market Evos the RS 5-spd. trannies do have shorter, closer spaced gearing than the other models. There are in fact 3 variations of the Euro and Japan Market VIII RS 5-spd. trannies. There is a short box, a medium box and a long box As far as I can tell, the difference between these 3 different RS trannies is that each has a different final drive ratio, but their gear ratios are the same.

I have a JDM RS box and the gears are shorter and closer spaced than in the U.S.D.M. 5-spd. box. My box is either the short or the medium version. I am not sure. Sorry I don't have numbers for you though. I did find the information that you seek over on the British Evo Forum: "LancerRegister". I lost my search function over on there though for some reason. So, you'll need to get on there and do a search.

the point is why I wand to install an RS is that it should have shorter gears than EVO8 5spd, I want to install 4,11 in RS tranny and in this case gear should no be that long as in evo8 5spd + 4,11

here what I found but

I am curious as to what sort of driving that you want to tailor your RS gearbox with 4:11 for. Is it for racing competition, or for just driving on the street, or for drag racing, etc. I am just curious.

Have you tried over on LancerRegister yet? As I mentioned to you...I found the exact info over on there.

I have a Euro Evo8 with 5spd, I did install a 4.11 into it and the acceleration decreased about for 10% (gear become to long for me)

I use my car for roll-on and some times in drag racing we have different class and I take part in Street class

the point why I want RS I was told it has shorter gears and in this case after installing 4.11 gear wont be that long

but after a search and thanks to you I realize that I wont win anything, but as I understand fro Europe RS had shorter gears

so I don`t know what to do

here what I found more

If you look at that chart that you posted the 6-spd. ratios in the MR tranny are very similar to the RS 5-spd ratios. Thanks for posting this information.

if i were you and have a 4.11 fd, i would want MR gearset to make up for the longer time it takes to rev out the gears. 4.11 seems real low.
