HELP, Grinding after engine shut off

Hey guys,
here is what happened. I was headed to a race, and felt something loose in the engine bay. Anytime i hit a bump or a divit, it felt like something was hitting my firewall. I felt it in the clutch pedal, steering wheel, as well as the firewall (the foot guard to the left of the clutch pedal). Like an idiot, i raced any ways (did EXTREMELY well too). On my way home, the knocking (thing that felt loose) was worse than before, but it didnt seem to be hindering any of the cars perfrmance whatsoever. As i pulled into my garage, all of a sudden a loud grinding started. I shut off the car instantly and the grinding wound down until it finally stopped (after the engine was already off).

This tells me its somehing that is rotating when the car is on. Does this sound at all like a blown tranny, broken axle/ half shaft, or possibly crank?

I have a fully built block/engine/ transfer case and Exedy Triple.

Any help would be great right now. This happened last night and i havent been able to get under the car yet, so after work today i will be able to jump into it. Just trying to figure out what it could be. Thanks All!

Start looking around the starter and try and look in the bellhousing. Maybe the starter is loose.

If it wound down after the engine was already off then look at your turbo... Turbo still spins after the motor is turned off...
