Installing performance injectors
Installing performance injectors
I have evo4 with evo8 engine and evo8 turbo.
I am planning to improve it's performance with keeping lag as smaller as possible so I will be looking for installing evo9 turbo.
I am willing to get around 400hp.
Currently engine is being rebuilt - forged pistons and so on.
I hope get car till summer. However turbo upgrade is scheduled after summer.
So the questions is - does it make sense to change injectors/fuel rail/pressure regulator now or when I install the newer turbo and we try to get those 400hp?
I am advised to buy Injector dynamics 1000cc injectors. I counted that for 400hp it's ok to have 700cc injectors. If I buy 1000cc will this affect engine in any way? The point is that 1000cc Injector Dynamics is the popular model.

I would go ahead and upgrade the injectors to like 1000-1200cc's. That way you dont have to do it in the future if you plan to make more power. I think the stock injectors would work fine for around 400 hp. A bigger injector can make the car harder to idle but ive seen fic 2250's idle just fine.

I broke 400hp on a Evo9 turbo and my injectors were right about 105% idc so you'll need to get bigger injectors to accomplish your goal.
We have very small tracks with extremely sharp corners and higher lag is unacceptable disadvantage.
Thank you for your idea about calibration. Most likely I will leave this upgrade to autumn when there will be done custom manifold, evo9 turbo and evo8 ecu.

I don't have such plans, however guy who does ecu tuning says I should. I want to keep car street legal. I adviced to buy ID of 1000, so it isn't a question - I am definitely buying those.
No thats cool good luck with the build and the goals. I figured I could just chime in on some extra info for ya.

I cannot wait my evo back to the road
