Compression score
Compression score
I scored these numbers on a cold motor with no wide open throttle and 5 cranks, would it have been higher if the motor was warm and the throttle was open?
Cylinder 1:150
Cylinder 2:150
Cylinder 3:160
Cylinder 4:155
Cylinder 1:150
Cylinder 2:150
Cylinder 3:160
Cylinder 4:155
I've read that too, but the numbers are suppose to be higher on a warm engine due to the expansion from heat.
I've also read though that there are only two compression test... dry and wet. Dry is like the one you just performed and wet is with a few squirts of oil into the cylinder. This helps determine if you have a cylinder ring or valve / head issue. If the numbers go up with oil in the cylinder then its the rings. If there is no change then its the head. Of course this is only needed if you have a bad cylinder which read significantly lower than the others. In your case you don't have any issues as those numbers are very good.
