As the title says my t case went bad i was replacing the o rings and i notice a couple of broken teeth in the shaft. Called the dealer they said alsmot 3000 for a new t case. But they told me theres 5 different t cases for an evo. What are the difference on them. By the way i have an 06 evo 9 gsr.. I know for a fact mrs and rs are different. Please let me know asap my car is sitting on the lift i need answers so i can get my car back and running again.


Note: I got the tranny rebuild by shep not to long ago and never changed the o rings on the tcase.. Also since that i never launch the car.

US Evo's
Basically there are TCases that have either of the below setup:

-ACD & LSD
-LSD
-Open Diff

Since you have an Evo 9 then you need the one that has ACD & LSD. You can check the buy/sell section for nicely used ones. This weekend I'm switching my setup to non ACD system and will be selling tcase, acd pump and all the acd hardware etc.. if your interested.

 

if you had shep build the tcase not too long ago then why didnt you send it in for them to look and see if you could warranty it? Also dont buy a tcase from the dealership because you can get a good used one much much cheaper.

 

no no shep rebuild my transmission not the tcase.. i currently took the t case apart gonna see if i can changed the part thats broken. hopfully i can order that part. if not ill be hunting for a used t case.


i have a gsr 5 sp. i believe non lsd. can i put a evo 8 t case on my 9?

 

U have a EVO 9 which means u have one with acd and lsd unless someone has swapped things out. U can use a 05 EVO 8 t case but not the 03-04 models unless you plan to remove your acd.

 

how do i know if its lsd? i know when u spin the wheels both of them spin at the same time. is this how u know? and also no im keeping my acd.

Simple - if it is a 9 it is lsd.

Iirc t case is not serviceable by the dealer, they will want you to buy a new one. Call shepherd or tre about parts.

Best way to tell which diff u have is by looking at it but my bet is 99% u have a lsd.
