Clutch break causality

My 03 VIII is in the shop for a second time in about 14 mos., with a clutch disk that is cracked. This time it is discovered that the bearings on the input and output shafts are pretty well worn out and noisy (at 148k miles). Those will be replaced and the clutch is covered under warranty.

Could the bad bearings be the cause of the clutch breaking? It was producing a lot of noise and rumble clutch out. Clutch in the noise went away. Everything else looks ok.

Stock type clutch, no racing, about 60 miles highway a day. First clutch went about 125k miles.
