How to Remove Engine Harness from Fuse Box?

Hey all,

I was wondering how the engine harness separates from the front chassis harness? If one was to purchase an 'engine harness' from the dealer, it would run from the ECU just to the engine plugs, correct?

Does it go to the fuse box at all?

Thanks!

With the chase bays wiring harness they re-route the fuse box to stay in the car with the ecu.

I have my wiring harness out and apart. I'm waiting on my motor so i can run all the wires and make sure all the connections are right. I have it all labeled and what not but actually ran into some frayed wire's so it was good that i decided to re-do it.

The wires only go to the small portion of the fuse box as well. The bigger part un plugs and stays there.

To undo the wires from the fuse box you just have to open it up and they are just reg spade terminals and you just use a fine pointed instrument to pull up the pin to release it.

Thanks for the help, man!

So to separate the engine harness from the other harnesses one would need to completely de-loom it from the firewall up to the fuse box, correct?

I'm trying to figure out the best plan of action for when I re-tuck the car and relocate the fuse box.

There's really no easy way around it. You have to pull the wiring harness right out from the ecu and under the center counsel along with all of it underneath the hood.

The wire's are so random and theres no real way to just start in the middle.

Unless someone knows something I'm missing. But Its not really to hard to pull the whole thing out anyway. The hard part is sitting there for hours on end labeling and un-doing pins so that you can reverse it all once you have it all seperated. lol.

Its alot of work bob but start at the fuse box and remove it you will also have to remove your cowl for the wiper motor plug your fenders to get to the abs plugs or just the lining you will also have to undo a ton of connections all on the drivers side as well as a few under the shifter console you have my number if you need something

I appreciate it man. I'm still not 100% sure I want to do this, but come Winter I'll decide. Do you de-pin each plug? If so how do you de-pin them?

The time consuming part I don't mind that much, it's pulling everything apart that scares me lol.

you dont have to depin anything to get the harness out but you will have to when you go to redo it every connector will have to be done it helps to have a friend pull on the wires you will need something sharp prolly as small/thin as a welding rod save yourself some time and pull the dash it can be done without doing it but its easier on your back.
