bov question
bov question
i have heard that an aftermarket BOV vented to the atmosphere will kill performance, but then i hear that it doesnt make a noticable difference on a stock evo 8...i want a turbo xs RFL and i am afraid to purchase one because of these rumors..has someone tried one on a stock evo or can anyone help me by telling me what will happen if i get one?
you can get you if you want, and you can correct the condition a vta causes with either the emanage or a stand-alone. People are running them without problems, however there are people who do have problems. A recirculating bov will help keep the turbo spooled better since no air really 'escapes'. Another thing to consider is that some intercooler pipe kits come with a particular bov flange already welded on so if you buy one now you may have to buy another one later. The stock bov does not leak until you are boosting around 25psi. I hit 21-22psi regularly and it holds strong and I use the stock bov. DON'T BUY IT JUST FOR THE SOUND....that's rice...plus, a high flow intake will give the stock bov that sound anyway. Just my $.02
I dont know how the EVOs are with this but my car ran like absolute crap when it wasnt plumped. Again tho there are those (eclipse) that can vent and have no problem. Most will tell you it hinders perfomance tho and most have problems with stalling mine sure did.
