6466 or JB 6765?

What up evom, quick question for you experts out there!! A buddy of mine is trying to sell me his journal bearing 6765 turbo for $1,000 but I really like the 6466 instead of that. I'm shooting for 6-700 hp and it's going to be on a built 2.0L, which turbo would you guys recommend? Thanks!

ball bearing 6266 for the power you are looking for. a 6766 will be disgustingly laggy on a 2.0L especially journal bearing.

the 6466 will spool faster and make basically the same top end as the 6765 journal bearing.

it's a no brainer.

Doesn't a 6466 out spool a 6266? I think I had seen it in a posting but the graphs had no numbers or something. But the OP confirmed that for the setup he had it out spooled the 6266

I would do the 6466. Gives you some room to be able to increase your power once your bored with the 6-700hp range.

The lag isn't going to be unbearable since its on a 2.0L would it?

everyone has their own definition of lag, i personally think it will be pretty doggy below 5,500 rpm. i woould really go with a bb 6266 cea, it will have less lag and can still make 750+whp. i put 1,000 miles on a buddies 2.3L with a bb 6766 and i thought the lag was unbearable.

the 6266 would probably spool a 100 or 200 quicker if i had to guess, and still make 700whp pretty easy.all the turbos mentioned will be laggy on a 2.0.i wouldn't think any of them will hit full boost before 5000rpm.

DBB 6466 is my vote. You could do it with a 6266 or a 6262, but I would think the difference in static spool time would be minimal, but the ease of which you make 700whp would be improved significantly.

My car only made 613whp w journal b 6765 @ 30psi on C16 and very laggy
I want to send it to PT for db and 6766 upgrade although not sure how much they charge?(any vendors see this pm me for pricing lol)
I'm not happy w my jb 6765. I was short in a budget before that's why I got the jb version. All my Supra friends told me it's good and no need to spend more money to get the db version. Yea I know they have Supra I should have listen to my Evo friends lol

you could always turn the boost up on that 6765.i don't think you can upgrade that turbo to the new CEA 6766,maybe but i don't think.

basically the journal bearings are slower to spool than the BB and even slower still than the new CEA turbos by PTE.the BB turbos spool 15% quicker than the journal bearing, but top end should be similar,if you want more power turn the boost up.that 6765 is good for 800whp easy with more boost.

on the Supra, they might not notice the 15% more lag since the motor is quite a bit bigger.
