Lancer evo 03 New owner =)

So wanted to say thanks for all my dumb questions about the evos guys and thanks for the quick answers. I ended up going evo 8 saving 6k from what I was gunna spend on evo 9 and looking to invest 2k right away in mods.

Current problems on the car is at WOT it feels its losing power or not powering up as well as it should. I took it to a shop before I bought it and the said the compression test and leak down was just fine. But they did say the spark plugs looked pretty fouled. Im pretty sure thats the problem but if anyone else has ideas? The worst case I assume it could be coils but again any help would be great.

Also It has a turbo back turbo xs exhaust 3 inch. Funny thing is I thought the exhaust was turbo back. But there is the stock cat on it? Wondering if its just a peice you buy to take the place of the cat? Sorry been looking and cant seem to find anything its just a 12-15 inch pipe that would replace it.

It has gauges that came with the car. 2 boost gauges 1 manual and 1 digital, air fuel gauge not wideband, Oil pressure. I would like to think i need to get a wideband but the air fuel should be ok for a while. Im looking to tune the car here soon and want to have full bolt ons when I do this and maybe E85.

What are current things as far as upkeep that may need to be done to a car with 90k miles? I was thinking water pump and timing belt like dsm? But wondering what your guys thoughts were?

The rear right brake has a nasty high pitch shreech when you lightly tap on it? Im thinking the rotors not fully secure but again open to thoughts.

current list of things im thinking of getting and want your guys thoughts

1200cc+ injectors
255 pump
fmic
piping
cat delete
intake
272 cams
e85 =)
and a good tune!?!

thanks guys I cant think of any more right now so thanks for your guys help.

water pump/timing belt service is part of the 60k maintenance. If it hasn't been done I would start there. There is a sticky in the engine/drivetrain portion of the forum that has all the service intervals with correct fluids etc. If you can't verify that it has been done, just do it. Don't want it to fail and cause internal engine damage. Magnaflow and lots of others offer either a high flow catalytic converter, or you can just do a test pipe to take the place of the stock cat. Maybe get the tune looked at? If you're fouling plugs you're probably running too rich. Just some thoughts of where to start man. Good luck!

go to ebay motors and type in Evo Test Pipe. They can be had for relatively cheap!

congrats on the buy! my advice would be to do the 60k if your not sure if its been done. I bought an 03 also but the previous owner had it done, and i wouldent go blowing money away on mods yet because you never know what your going to uncover with the car maybe it needs some work first before its ready for mods just my .02 i bought my car for a fairly cheap price turned out it needed some work. unless the shop took a really good look at it and its ready to go!

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...uantities.html there's the link it's in the general forum not the engine/drivetrain one. whoops!

If it was me, I'd just get the basic one, unless your crank and cam seals are leaking. Those appear to be the only differences between the two kits. Besides the thermostat. Which I would just go pick up separately and replace since you'll be draining all the coolant out anyway. TIP: order the thermostat from the dealer only. All the usual parts stores only have ones from a stock lancer and they will not work. They may tell you they have one for the evo but they do not. It will be the wrong part.

Thanks guys! Bought just now. Anything else you guys can think of any ideas on the right rear brake squeelin. Or anything else I should look into. Also I forgot to say I'm looking at exedty twin clutch. It's still on stock clutch and grabs just fine but just figured I'd fix it before it goes out.

Not really, but I figure that since a water pump is slightly important that I would want to buy a name-brand or proven brand (maybe GMB is, but I've never heard of them)

Timing belt I would definitely stick with something proven like Gates

spark plugs are an easy fix, do a search you can get some good ones online, maybe even in local parts store for cheap.. dont go to the dealer

afrs should not be that rich, if you dont have a tactrix cable find someone that will let you borrow one and download the rom, it may or may not be stock. the boost going to 18psi is subjective.. because the car adjusts boost to a reach a pre-determined power output... once again.. maybe affected by the tune...

boost leak test wouldnt hurt either
