they are almost done building my crate motor,i'm hoping i can send them the tranny and they can mail me the motor and tranny both in a few weeks.

i've talked with Jack several times and he is very knowledgable on these EVO motors/trans.

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the benefits to the 4.11 final drive gears?

better cruising rpm, slightly less shock to drive train on high hp cars, not having to shift into 5th in the quarter mile for certain cars, better mpg

The 4.11 actually places MORE load on the transmission than the 4.53 OEM final drive. Takes more effort to turn the wheels, thus more load. Just like trying to ride a 10 speed bike in a higher gear from a stop. Takes more effort to get it moving.

If you have a motor with a high rpm biased powerband, the final drive is a little trickier to launch on. If you have a stroker though, it helps to tame the low rpm torque a bit.

That being said, if I were to build my trans up, it would be getting a 4.11 gear set.

I have a Jack's built transmission. I love it so far. No issues what so ever.

I'm thinking about doing the 4.0 Gearing from MFactory that Jack's selling also for a 100 bucks cheaper than the 4.11. I'm looking for good cruising RPM's, and later on in life a standing mile car and the Top speed of the 4.0 is 198 compared to the 4.11's being 192.

I've had a Jacks built tranny for a few yrs now and having them check it out again and rebuild it with the new gearing as well. I shot them an email last night and am waiting to hear back.

Takes more effort to turn the wheels, thus more load

load mayve, but i said shock.the 4.11 will reduce overall torque to the rear diff and axles, the 4.53 make for a lot of torque in 1st gear in the EVO.
