Are the front driveshafts on an Evo 8 bigger than rear?

Are the front driveshafts on an Evo 8 bigger than rear?
So I was crawling under my evo 8 during tire rotation and I noticed the front driveshaft the bar is actually thicker then the rear ones. The rear ones were skinny. Is that the way the Oems are or could I have an aftermarket one? I also notices all four collars where they meet at the transfer case and rear diff had a green plastic over the ends.
