Question What to do when overfilled from the factory??

A good friend of mine just bough an evo, and I told him I'd come over to check it out and make sure everything was squared away. When I checked his oil level, it was a good 1/4 inch above the top notch. I told him not to drive it till I get a definitive answer as to whether or not this would be a problem. The car was ICE cold on level ground. He only has 17 miles on the thing. So, leave it? Drain it? Change oil?

Also, his car was built in June. Should he swap the oil simply due to age?

Thanks for your replies
-Dave
