Is it possible to use oil temp gauge to know how long to cool down?

Basically I'm wondering at what oil temperature coking is a possibility, so that if my oil temp gauge shows 60 C I don't have to worry about cool down.

Normal operating temperature is 80 to 90 C, unless you are beating on it o the track, then it is around 115 C. I would let the oil Temp hit around 85 C and let your EGT go below ~350 C (with EGT on the down pipe)

it'll probably be long enough if you wait for the oil temp to go down, but the thing is if, independent of the oil temp, you wanna keep oil pumping through the turbo if it was recently spooled up. If its still spinning and the car is turned off and oil pressure is take away.... {thumbdown}

It is not ralliart, it is Tomei:

One of the seldom-weak points of 4G63 is rising of oil temperature. It is seen more often in circuit driving. Evo uses thermo switch that will work when the temperature gets around 85Ž. Yet when the oil temp is low, it will restrict oil flow to the oil cooler and raise the temperature of oil consequently. TOMEI oil thermo killer lets oil to flow into the oil cooler constantly regardless of its temperature. Still, it is easy to put it back to stock thermo switch in winter to prevent over cool.

Coking doesn't really happen in the turbo because of the oil temp. It's the turbo temp you need to be worried about and the lack of oil circulating in the turbo. It's the turbo temp that **** the oil. The oil temp may be normal but if your turbo is still very hot this is when problems arise.
