Eagle 100mm crank vs oem 100mm crank vs Manley

I'm about to rebuild my motor to a 2.3. Which crank should I go with and why?

I think Buschur used to use Eagle before but stopped because it had oiling issues.
The OEM 4G64 cranks are either a hit or miss. I heard of them breaking in half while others reached 700HP on them just fine.
Never heard bad things about the Manley one though.

I have the stock 4g64 crank in mine. If i was to rebuild a 2.3 i would use
https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...oducts_id=1752

The Buschur Racing / Manley U.L. 100mm 2.3L Billet Crank

I wish this was out when i built mine a few years ago i am preddy much stuck with 7850 rpm and dont want to push it much higher because i dont want a window in my block.

+ Being light weight it will spin much faster and easyer

Billet is over kill if you are keeping it below 700. The forged one should be fine at almost half the cost.

the very early eagles were machined for the wrong style thrust bearing and ate them. anything made in the last few years is fine. the oiling isnt as good as the strait shot oiling on some of the high end billet cranks, but its as good as stock or better. i would run an eagle before an oem crank.

The amount of power you plan on making and the amount of money you should be planning on spending on a crank is directly proportional.

Low power level=low cost crank (OEM. Machining might also factor into the overall cost if you go used OEM.)
Moderate power=moderate cost crank (K1, Manley, etc.)
High power=high cost (Winberg, Cosworth, Jun, etc.)

Good luck with the build!

I have an hta gt3582r so goal is about 700whp with a built 2.3.
Oem crank is about $200, eagle and Manley is about $600. Billet manley 100mm crank is about $1600. Which one should I go with? Would an oem crank be a ticking time bomb? I don't really want to spend the $1600 on the billet crank. Would the $600 eagle or manley be ok?

Ive used stock ones for a long time and had no problems with them.On my drag project(6 bolt) i used a stock crank and made 980whp.I had a hard time finding mint stock cranks. Now im using an eagle crank so far no problems at same power level.

In the grand scheme of money spent on a built motor do you really want to take a chance? Spend an extra 600 for the insurance and get the Manley Forged.

At the end of the day what matters is how good the machine work is and final assembly of the engine.
