Question Aluminum Rods= Is it ok to drive it 450 miles non-stop?

So my wife wants to drive my evo. Her car is having some issues. I'm here in Japan and she asked if she can drive the Evo to her parents house tomorrow for Christmas eve. It's about 450 miles to his folks place one way. I'm worried about my aluminum rods(life)!

Will ii be ok for my rods? My built motor has only 2700 miles. I told her to just rent a car but she said she already checked the Avis and Enterprise and they are out of cars.

I'm just worried about the rods being on heat for 6hrs+ non stop. Since the built, I have only drove the car 1hr(non stop) commute to work. Should I let her to rest the car for an hour when she fills up? Maybe I'm just too paranoid lol

Thanks! Merry Christmas to all of you guys!!! Can't wait to come back home next year.

PS. Told her to just look in this post.

To my wifey Amelia,
I guess you can drive the Evo. Please make sure the temp is at least 140 degrees before you start driving it. Watch the gauges from time to time. Drive safe. Lastly stay out of boost!
Love you and Kurt! - Tristan

PSS if you are bringing a child with (I know this from experience), make sure you put a cover underneath him/her. No stains in the Evo.

Safe travels.

you'll hate the lack of cruise control if you are used to having it.

it is a rally car. it can stand the beating. it is also the appropriate vehicle for the wintry condition depending where you are.

I'm going to guess none of you have any idea what you are talking about since this sounds like a terrible idea...... Aluminum rods are mean for doing quick Bursts/passes and that's it. You cannot idle long with them and I'm going to assume 400 plus miles on the highway is no better.

7 months PG? She'll be making plenty of stops to let your rods and other things cool down. Snake bite is on crack anyway.

you sir are incorrect there are a good amount of people dding cars with them or atleast putting 1000's of miles on them every year unless you get groden or RnR grp bme or some company to post in here and say other wise i think your statement was 100% wrong ive spent tons of hours reading and talking to a few guys v8 guys at the track making big power with them to the op's wife get the oil up to temp before you start your drive and be safe

Holy misinformation batman.

Firstly, the safety of your wife and newborn should be priority #1, but to ease your mind; your rods will be just fine. I've sat in high heat at idle in new jersey summer traffic with 0 problems year after year on aluminum rods with no issue. If you're going to be worried about anything, I'd say your clutch would be the ticket.

To the wife: At the end of the day its still a MITSUBISHI
