Mainly irrelevant. Get the type that you want. Did you consider JUN?

Depends on what turbo your pairing them with. Most are pretty much the same but I think Tomei Procam has 11.5mm lift with 260' rot. whereas HKS has only 10.8/10.2mm lift (in/ex) with 272' rot. I am doing research on Piper cams which I am leaning towards. They are 265' rot. with 11.5 mm lift. Spool a huge turbo like 3240 or GT40 like a sonuva*****. Cams like that will require better springs and retainers though. Best bet is to figure out what you want ultimately and buy what would work best for you final goal, not what works best for what you have now. My $.02

TODA doesn't make Evo cams. Tomei is better for midrange and HKS 272's are great for top end. Piper's qualify is questionable....heard horror stories of their cams breaking.

To start, all brands are excellent, you cannot go wrong quality wise with any of them.

Problem is the numbers don;t really tell you anything quite frankly, as you have no idea what equipment they were done on. As such, the lift and duration number are largely for amrketing purposes unless then tell you the type of machine was used to meaudre the valve lift.

To that end, I ahe to say Tomei provides a TON of technical info on their site - more than any other JDM brand, which is a good thing I think.

Having had custoemrs with each of these cams, it seems JUN's net quite a bit of HP, yet on paper seem to be in the middle of the pack.

Any questions, let us know

Adam

so Z1, did you test both the TOMEI Procam and JUN 272's, what would you recommend between the two if you are planning to get a GT30 turbo upgrade

Believe the stock cams are 256s as well, if I recall correctly.

saying you are getting a GT30 upgrade really does not tell me much of anything..there are lots of combos of front/back sections you could run, as well as a number of other factors that determine what the "right" cam is (exhaust manifold design, where you're desired powerband is, etc etc etc.)

Hey, Adam runs 272 right? Can you handle them on a Daily driven machine? Also, do you need to replace the springs and retainers, I know the guys at Turb trix don't so lemy know your opinion on these cams and what they are doing for you.

the JUN 272's will never idle unless you go with standalone, but Al said they yield the most horsepower at the top end (he never tried Piper though)
