My evo 8 hta3586 110 or e85?
I'm old skool so I've been running 110 on my setup for a while now but I'm wondering if it will really make a big difference for me to switch to e85? Or are we talkin 20hp
Pte1200, double pumper, fuel rail, stock ecu SD.
Currently I have all supporting mods for turbo but I know if I switch to e85 I would need bigger injectors... Worth the switch? Anyone did back to back test?
Thanks

E85 is always a great choice and you will most likely enjoy running it over race fuel because its cheaper and can be purchased with a lot more ease if you have a pump near your place. When I do my build, I will most likely turning to E98. But its up to you.. something to look into.
110 is good for low 30s and good timing which is under 700whp on a 2.0l (and most 2.4s). All the proper mods a 3586 can make 800 on E85 and high boost. A lot depends on how available E85 is (its less expensive as well), what sized motor you have or if its stock, etc.
E85 owns gasoline fuel as long as you can exploit it.

e85. both have same driveability. e85 will make way more due its cooling properties. if you can get easy access to e85 its not questionable. .
the only downfall is you'll need 30% more fuel system to make up for its demand for more fueling vs regular gasoline.

I have friends on e85 and they have starting problems and the cars aren't consistent always, that's y I went 110 but now before I go bigger turbo to get more power I just wasn't sure if by just switching to e85 will give me big gains... So much to consider.

So what is considered high boost on E-85? I find this discussion interesting as I have an HTA3586 T4 Twinscroll on my built 2.0 and have been running 34-35psi every day. It's worth mentioning that I'm running 93oct pump gas, I don't daily drive but pretty damn close. 3-5 times per week. the off boost characteristics are very good but when it starts climbing through the 20psi range it gets real fun real fast! Last dyno pull was 509awhp and 421ft-lbs of torque.revving to 7800rpm.

get an e85 tester or get an ethanol content reader in your car if you dont trust the content % coming out the pumps.

35psi isn't exactly low boost though either.

Just FYI I'm still on the stock MAF, Stock head ports, and self ported stock manifold. My hotside is smaller than most would run on this setup but I wanted faster spooling on this larger frame turbo. We started each pull at 3k rpm and already had positive manifold pressure on each pull.

small hotside ya, so you sacrifice top end for quicker spool downlow. MAF is hurting you bad with that size turbo in all aspects.
also 3586R and .63 a/r like you & 93oct. about 30psi by 4400RPM in 3rd. it spools like a fp black right now. this is a 8 (no mivec.)
