Sparktech or SpoolinUp COP and why?

Looking at both of these kits I can't tell a difference other than the $130 more for the Sparktech.

Anyone have anything to share regarding either of these kits?

I personally opted for the SpoolinUp for that reason.

Yeah, really the point of this thread is to understand the differences between the two pieces.

I know why to run one of these, I need to understand how one is superior over another

Maybe we can get two people who live relatively close to each other one with the SpoolinUp COP and one with the Sparktech to hit up a dyno to see a difference, take both cars and have them swap out their COP's . While there at it maybe throw in some new plugs to keep the playing field even. I run the Sparktech and think its great+ it looks nice .

Personally I run sparktech. You can go cheap on certain things, a cop isnt one to me....most of it was not buying a cop with used coils, some from different manufacturers.....thats just me though, almost 50 k no issues with my sparktech non cdi.

the real diff here between the systems is the coil duration and voltage output the coil

Spark Tech gives you an extra year warranty on the coils too IIRC. I don't own either and likely never will.

Spark Tech left a bad taste in my mouth years ago when a few of us questioned the Non-CDI kits vs a set of new OEM coils and wires. As most who have installed the NON-CDI kits replaced older OEM coils.

Post were deleted and so was any chance that I'd ever spend money on their product.

I can say that Matt from SpoolinUp has great customer service. I didn't like the way the wiring looked on the COP kit and he was able to get another one made for me - he would definitely get my business again. I also bought the MAF to SD conversion wiring and that is a quality piece as well.

I can't say anything about the performance of either, because my car is still in 1,000 pieces, but it looks really nice

I'm interested. Do you have any data/numbers?

Any idea how this impacts stock evos? Modded evos? Is it even an issue?

Id be curious to see the data between the two if any; I'm sure the $130 difference is made up some place in the construction of the unit.

I would argue that the difference isn't in the construction, as I've seen and handled both. The difference is the profit margin that one company wants vs. the other, and the way they approach the community.
Here's a quick story; I was over at my buddies house and we were tinkering on my car, some wiring and tuning stuff. One of his friends came over and saw my attempts at soldering and relieved me. He climbed under my dash, went to work, ten minutes later he was done and everything was perfect. We chatted for a bit and came to find out it was Matt, owner of spoolinup.
I can't tell you much about spark-tech other than I used to run their cdi box on a cop setup and when I switched back to stock coils I noticed no difference. What I can tell you about Matt from spoolinup is he is an enthusiast who makes a proven product and sells it for less than the competition.

The real difference in them is the coil used.
The output voltage is what ignites the air and fuel mix. More voltage means more air and fuel can be introduced for a bigger combustion and thus more power. Hence ppl experience blowout when the ignition can't ignite large amts of air and fuel mixtures. This data from OE manufactures are not readily available. MSD sells their coils with this info as builders can now match the coil to the application being built.

Matt uses 90919-02240 OE Toyota coils or Denso 673-1360 which is supposedly the same and arguable apart from Toyota's inscription are the same.
What does Spark tech use?

When I faced the similar dilemma (about 2 years back) I could never find any useful information truly showed me why their was a large price difference was...so went with the new option from SpoolinUp. Both seem to be good companies who stand behind their product so I don't think you go wrong either way. Maybe their is new information now, but it seems to have held up quite well in my mildly modified car.
