2005 Evo V/// S-AYC conversion

I know this is probably going to start a flame war but I'm doing a S-AYC conversion with a Evo X rear diff and ACD/AYC pump and Evo V// transfer case and sensors and all that jazz lol. I'm gonna have a write up to go along with it so don't worry, my failure will be publicized lol.

Thanks I'm getting the conversion from someone with an imported evo 7 running the evo 10 rear diff. It's pretty much a chassis swap if you think about. It's just a lot to swap lol.

I have an update! Lol. Well I have my wiring down using an Evo 7 ACD wiring harness. It was simple. They only wires that are missing from the stock USDM harness are from the wheel speed sensors and the lateral sensor. I used butt connectors to splice my existing harness to the E-7 harness and then because the ABS uses the sensors I needed to wire in, I just spliced the connection from the the ABS module embedded in the center console. Wiring complete. The ACD/AYC pump has been mounted in the stock location of the E-7. All that needs to be swapped is a bracket that is used to mount the charcoal canister for a bracket that is slightly longer to mount the bigger hydraulic pump. All that is left is to block off the Evap lines, possibly remove them, mount the rear diff, run the hydraulic lines, mount the reservoir, plug in the pump harness, fill the system with fluid, and then ops check it.

That is awesome be sure to keep us posted with how this turns out

Quick question- I thought I remembered reading in the past that the evo VII had a tiny gas tank ~10 gal in order to fit the pump for the AYC. Do you know anything about this and if it is indeed true how are you going about fitting it in there assuming you still have your factory 14 gallon tank?

I have the factory 14 gallon tank. The pump actually mounts way behind the tank that I don't see a reason for a smaller tank. The pump mounts so far in the driver side corner that its about 3 inches from the rear bumper. It's actually smaller than the charcoal canister that it replaces. It just hangs about 1.5 inches lower.

I guess i didn't understand this. If you had a 2005 Evo it already had ACD so why did you have to install a new ACD? Or did you mean the ACD from the Evo X transplant?

Keep us posted on the news. I'm suprised you didn't try a straight swap with the equipment from an EDM/JDM evo8 instead of going with the X's setup.

My car had ACD but it had been removed and replaced with a mechanical transfercase. The reason for the 7/X swap instead of a JDM 8 is because its easier to find 7 and X stuff than JDM 8 stuff in the US. A friend of mine has a 7 and he wanted to go with all mechanical diffs after he blew out his rear diff, I had all mechanical stuff at the time, so we swapped stuff. As far as I know, my car is the only USDM Evo 8 with AYC and the only CT9A in the world to have, what will be, a fully functioning Evo X S-AYC rear diff.
