TD05 Running out of puff

A friend of mine is trying to develop some power ups for the Evo 6, (Current project is a new intercooler kit) but he needs to know where the turbo runs out of puff.

Can anyone tell me where the TD05s run out of grunt?

A dynograph of what happens when it starts to peak out would help us even more.

Or a compressor volume vs pressure graph would also be nice.

Basically, anything that tells us the limit of the turbo would be a great help.

He has the largest turbo slapped on a stock EVO then. Some say they start blowing hot air by 22 to 23 psi. I've heard others running higher though on good race gas. This is probably only in the midrange, I doubt anyone is running 22lbs at seven grand.

It depends GREATLY on the other modifications to the car; especially head/manifold work.

We're looking at a stock car, since most the cars these kits will be going on to will be a stock car.

So the answer so far is 22psi at midrange, falling off to ??? when it gets to 7000rpm?

Is there any more detailed answers?

Thanks for what I have so far.

Boost pressure is irrelevant; it's the other mods that determine the CFM, etc. that it is flowing.

On pump 16Gs will run out of juice (dependent upon the turbo) above 20 psi (when held at that boost until redline). It can vary from turbo to turbo since some have seen 26 psi on race gas and held strong. I can't find a compressor map for any Evo 16Gs but there are many on garden variety 16Gs (just check out DSM sites). And yes CFM is very dependent upon your supporting mods.

We have a customer's car in here now with one of the most heavily modded stock turbo EVO's. As an example, at one duty cycle on the boost controller, it spools up to 19.2 psi and tapers down to 16.3 by 7xxx rpm.
