Engine dies @~5500 rpm wot

If I wot the car it runs til about 5500 then acts like the key was shut off. Does this sound like an obvious defect in any of the sensors? Cam cam crank? Evo ix.

The car doesn't come back on, it stays off as long as you keep wot.

Definitely not any type of rev limiter

I would look into fuel. Seeing as you back off the throttle it is better.

Check pump pressure and volume, but usually that you would hear as a lean misfire pop before it shuts down....

I had the same problem do you have a factory intake on the car? The intake "cup" or schoop that comes to the hood gets sucked up to the hood at WOT and then it just Falls right on its *** and its like pinching a star while trying to suck air through it.

*straw* Also sounds like your intake tube may be collapsing or you popped off an intercooler pipe. Idk Im just throwing examples. boost test your car and make sure your vacume lines are connected on your passanger side below the intake manifold by the FPR. I know my buddy running 33psi on his FPRED blows off EVERY SINGLE vacume hose from the factory when it hit that boost level.

No fap 84mm + 84 tube. I brake boosted and couldn't replicate the problem. Only happens when the motor is accelerating fast.

is it the silicone tube or metal? I know on subarus they have issues with the turbo inlet collapsing at high power levels. And at brake boosting your not hitting your max boost. so essentially your saying at partial throttle you can go all the way to redline but full throttle at 5000rpm it falls on its *** and shuts the car off? you restart drives fine partial throttle still? What are you AFR's when your hitting this "wall". Also have you recently had your timing belt changed? Theres a sensor down there (cant remember which one think its the crank position sensor) which can go out if its hit during the change, its a possibility that may be your issue as well. It will be random at first and gradually get worst as time goes on.

The symptoms are not an intake restriction, since the car stays off until you let off the throttle. Meaning you could coast to a stop with your foot to the floor.

So your saying once you go full throttle at high rpm it will shut off but if you let off the gas it will start back up again? And what about partial throttle will it go past 5500?

Yea , I'm not gonna comment too much further until I get a log .. I was mainly interested if it sounded like a typical crank cam or cam sensor.

Between mommas day and the new baby to and from work are my logging times lol.

Ill get back with a log
