Is this repairable?
I recently crashed my Evo on a track, and at this point, have only two options: either part it out, or try to repair it. Given that I still have a lien on the vehicle, I am opting for the latter. As such, I have ripped the front end open and pulled out the engine to see what the damage was. Below is what we're looking at.

As you can see, the block has three attachment points for a pulley bracket that were damaged from the impact. My question for you guys is, is this repairable or would it require a replacement of the block? It seems pretty minor, but I would defer to the judgement of the pros on here.

I would say it is a possibility, but you will have to find a good block and measure how far out that broken piece comes out. I'm assuming all the threads are gone?
I would say if you can find out how long the bolt is that run in there, and grind that part of the block down you may beable to tackweld a nut the same size in that location to run the bolt through, don't know how sturdy it will be since its a cast block, but may be a temp fix. The only real right way to fix it is to replace the block.

What are the damaged holes for? It looks like power steering pump but I know there's other things maybe in that area like timing belt idler pulley and accessory belt idler pulley. I'm thinking that since you have it apart you should know.
I'm skeptical concerning having the block welded. You'd then have to have it machined or ground down, then drilled and threaded. I watched a guy who said he could weld cast iron and I wasn't impressed. It might be easier to have threaded studs welded into the damaged holes that can take a nut. If that fails then you wouldn't have a ton of money invested and can look for a block.

I believe those holes are mainly for the power steering pump if I'm not mistaken.

i should've known that being that I just tore down my block. Wow, I mean even though the mount has a few different bolts holding it up, i don't know if I would run it with a few missing. Granted, I personally don't know if it will hurt anything, but it was designed with those mounting points for a reason. Especially with out right upper one missing...
Well take my little bit of advice. take that block... Buy a piece of glass... And make youself a new table. It will match any decor you have at home.
Thats what i plan on doing to my evo block.

Alright, well in that case, I have a follow-up question: Is the block in the 4G63T the same as that in the 4G63? In other words, could I just pull one off of an appropriate era Eclipse or Galant?
The internals are not the same, not sure about block itself, if anyone wants to chime in on that. But a evo block isn't that much for a bare block. I just sold mine for $300
