Evo 9 Head convert onto Evo 5. Pls Advise

Hi Guys,
planning to swap my Evo 5 head with Evo 9 and what do i need to make it possible?
1) Evo 9 complete wire harness
2) Evo 9 ecu

Is it possible to run the Evo 9 head on Evo 5 engine without the Evo 9 wire harness as the Mivec can be control by an independent Mivec Controller?
Is it possible?
Will very much appreciate if i could used back my Evo 5 wire harness.

Is Evo 9 & Evo 5 block the same?

Please kindly advise.

Thank you.

blocks are same. except oil feed to mivec. the oil pressure switch on evo 5 in on back of block under intake manifold. on evo 9 that switch is moved to oil filter bracket. the hole on block is used to feed mivec.

it would be very difficult to control mivec without using the factory 9 harness and ecu. easiest path is factory parts.

a few on this forum have made the conversion on the evo 8. they all used factory 9 parts.

Thank you 94AWD,
I think i'll just go for 2.3L built than. maybe its about the same cost as converting to Mivec.

Is Manley reliable?
