I'd make sure when your speed shifting to 2nd your getting that clutch pedal engaged enough. Also if you don't have the metal shifter bushings, I hear they work wonders on your shifts. Solid.-

My second gear sticks occasionally when I'm driving slow at lower rpm's, the total opposite. Especially on a cold morning.

Mine used to do that and I used to miss shift into 2nd because of it.
But after replacing the tranny and all gear oil with synthetic, I have no problem shifting into 2nd gear at around 7K to 7.5K rpm.

I had difficulty to shift from 1st to 2nd at high rpm. Changed to Redline MT-90(from HKS gear oil), the problem slightly improved, half of the times shift was good. This improvement only lasted 2-3 months, now I have difficulty not only 1-2, 2-3 was bad too. Just put in Motul 75w90 GL-4,GL-5 today, will try some launch tomorrow.

people in the UK forum are saying good things about Royal Purple gear oil. I personally think the problem is the worn out syncros, changing oil can only help so much.

Getting into 2nd is difficult for me at times as well. It just does not want to do it a high RPM's, and this is not speed shifting, it is just a normal shift into 2nd.

You wouldn't thing you would be having worn syncro issues this early, but then again I don't know how you drive it. DSMr's have been adding GM Syncromesh for years. BG Syncroshift is good also. RRE usually has this stuff.

I used to use MOTUL lubricants for my '02 GSXR 750. It's good stuff. Never used in in cars though.

change your shifter cable bushings ASAP!!

I swear, my second gear really, really sucked. I put some of the brass bushings in and lemme just say WOW. Second gear pops in at any rpm now.
