thrust bearings
thrust bearings
i have a newly built engine by a local machine shop and now everytime i keep burning up the left thrust bearing. it seems like there is too much force coming from the transmission. I have unplugged the pressure switch on the clutch pedal so i know thats not the cause. any help would be great
this is on initial start up and its a pull type. exedy twin...... the thing is that this clutch was installed prior to the build with no issues. could it be an install issue and we have to pull the tranny off again?
If its on the first start, you probably have a scored crank or improper installation. In which case you would need a new crank if the damage is bad enough.
***this is in my opinion I am in no means an expert engine builder***
I would talk to a shop who builds a lot of these motors - MAP/Buschur/AMS/ETC
Edit- It could also be from improper (read not enough) lubrication before starting the motor for the first time.
How many times has it happened?
