weird Idle sound.....

Hey guys i just put about 4500 miles on my car. With only a Greddy type s BOV and a RMR intake. But i don't remember for how long, but whenever my car is sitting idle, my car kinda makes a tapping sound. Kind of clicking like, but i can't really explain it. BUT if i press the clutch it goes away. Its not LOUD or totally noticeable. Is this a problem? Any of you guys having the same problems?

I have the same thing. I was thinking it's valvetrain noise. The clicking in my car is coming from the valve cover. I can only hear it if im standing outside the car or have the hood open. Can you hear yours inside the car?

I can hear mine a little standing outside the car or have the hood popped. Almost sounds like its coming from in or around the injectors?

Damn, I don't know what it is. I just hope its not any kind of problem with the valvetrain cause I'm about to get some cams.

It sounds like injector noise to me. I wouldn't worry about it too much. WRX's are well known for having noisy injectors and I seem to remember a few Evo owners reporting the same thing.

Oil level?

When was the last time you checked your oil level??? The lifters in the Evo engine are hydraulic. If you are down on oil, you might hear the lifters clatter somewhat. Be sure to check your oil often, especially during the first 5,000 miles.

My 2 cents.

I just checked my oil, the level is fine but i rubbed a drop of oil between my fingers and it felt like water not 10w30 (engine was cold, 35 degree). The oil reaked of gas and i just changed it 900 miles ago.

Maybe more frequent oil changes with all these cold starts?

To the first poster, don't know, maybe tob?

Everyone else, it's just injector noise. This car has some of the loudest injectors I've ever heard. (btw, if it is injector noise it should sound like a bunch of pens clicking loudly)

Injector noise most likely. My RSX Type S was the same way. Really loud injectors.
My car makes a funny moise when warming that I can't figure out. It's kinda like a whistling, or something rubbing. I don't think it's a belt. It goes away after the car warms up fully, but it makes the car sound like **** when it's happening. Anyone else?

So when you push the clutch in it goes away and when you let it out it comes back. I have the same noise and have been told it is the throw out bearing on the clutch. I have had it since day 1.

Pushing in the clutch shouldn't change any engine noises. I'm guessing it's the throwout bearing. I have injector noise and valve noise (HKS cams). Neither sound goes away when i press the clutch.
