I just heard that 272s generate a CEL. Is this true? Folks with this set-up,... speak up!!!

of course not, but why would it generate a CEL.......... there's no technical explanation as to why this would happen

 

exactly this never showed up in any of threads, if it did, we would know by now

 

Im not saying it couldnt happen from the CAS sensor damage or wobbling/ bingding of the cam due to improper install and possibly from running overly lean (mistuned) but not from just the cam addition. So what Im asking this guy is did the guy that told him that either have a mistune or crap instal?

 

A mod said he DID get a CEL, and a vendor said they got a CEL as well.

I was surprised like you guys are, but I spoke to one personally, and emailed someone else and they both got CELs.

I am not doing this to avert people from buying 272s. As a matter of fact, I was thinking of getting HKS 272s.

I did this poll because 2 out of 2 people I asked got CELs, yet we never heard of it, EVER here on the forums.

 

One person said that since they idle roughly, they trigger a misfire code and throw a CEL. They are a shop!

I am doing this poll for public opinion/experience.

Did they tell you specifically which code? Is this related to the PO3000 Random misfire code? If so this might help.

How about you get your information straight before posting this garbage and throwing everyone into delirium?

I've had the HKS cams for over 8k miles, no CEL, period. (Well, except for that whole no cat thing.) The only thing I can say about them is they really open the car up on the top end.

Until you can tell us WHICH code it throws, this is a useless waste of bandwidth.

 

Personally, I have hks 272/272 with no CEL due to them, the code you probably heard of is a random misfire code I can't remember the number right now, but it has been set before after a 272/272 installation. This was a known issue on the eclipse 4g63, and I've also heard the same on some EVOs

 

Hey, calm down. I got my information STRAIGHT from people HERE who installed the 272 cams. It is not heresay nor rumors, since I personally talked to one and I PMd the other one.

Like I said and I am saying it again, I am doing this poll to see who else is getting a CEL (misfire code) from HKS 272s.

Instead of attacking me for getting information, why don't you just answer the question and move on and save your precious bandwidth. Oh, wait a minute, its not yours is it....

No misfire codes.

 

To end this useless sidenote, information from reliable sources who ACTUALLY have installed the cams themselves is a fact or statistic, not heresay.

At least this is making me more confident to go to 272s since i hate CELS!!!

On the productive side, did you do anything else to make them idle better, like adjust the idler screw or tune them w cam gears?
