tps setting

Just want to confirm if my tps sensor is bad. From what im reading when using evoscan it should read .05-.06 volts at idle. Is this correct? The lowest i can get it to read is .35 volts @ idle. Even with thhe tps sensor unplugged i notice its still at .035 volts and i can increase it to .50 but it will not go down to .050. Does this mean the tps is shot? This is on a mil spec 65mm tb i bought from a member. If the tps is shot im not going to be happy. Car was fine before replacing the tb, and the symptoms im experiencing are a high idle. I installed the tb and test drove the car, initial start i got a high rev to around 2500rpm and it dropped to a normal 1k drove it for 10 min acted fine. Headed to a car meet and it started idling at 2k rpm. Pulled over checked voltage was getting .035 with tps not hooked up and the lowest i could get was .35 withh it hooked up. Any help is appreciated.

Im dealing with the same issue with a customers car. Im going to swap the TP sensor from my car and see what happens. I noticed that the IAC is sticking/flutering contributing to the high idle as well. Im going to clean it and see if that drops the idle.

Incase you were wondering, I found my issue. The throttle cable was a little to tight causing the throttle plate to slightly open. Also causing the TPS to read a higher voltage. Reset the cable and idles perfectly at 900rpm and the vacuum gauge doesnt flutter like the IAC is sticking.

I wiil check into that when i get the chance. I did switch from an 8 tb to a 9 tb, but i dont think it would affect the throttle cable. I did notice the previous owner of this tb cleaned it with tb cleaner before which to my unnderstanding is a big no no. There is a black coating that seals the plate when closed and if u clean them it takes this coating away. Before i installed the tb i re coated it with dry moly lube. If its not the plate sticking i will just switch my sensors from my old tb out and see if that changes it.

I still need to know if the tps should read .035 when unplugged, and if the setting is .050 or .50

Im not sure what it will read unplugged because you are opening the circuit. You have a 5V reference and a signal return. You are looking at the signal return (.05 or .035 volts.) When you disconnect the sensor, you open the circuit. It should read 0V when disconnected.

Swapping the throttle body shouldnt matter (8 or 9). Just make sure that the cable is not too tight. I clean the TB with brake clean to get the carbon off. Other than that, make sure it doesnt bind and reinstall it.
