What I do n works real well for me is I put the oil in a metal hand oil pump n fill using that. The small hole on the pump fits in between the case n the ring perfectly and it actually fills faster than a larger tube trying to push oil past the ring and it's a lot less mess. N I say metal pump cuz I use the heavy shockproof which is pretty good n thick cold but if u heat it in pump u can get it to 5w30 ish viscosity.

I use a clear rubber hose from a aquarium store melted down at the tip so you can just stuff it in (lol) and pump it right into it. Have done this 6+ times and works great

This sounds like an over engineered solution to a problem that doesn't need to be one.

This is what I do:

^ Hah my thoughts exactly... +1 to that approach with the pump. I've been doing that for years now and it works perfectly. Forget about the gravity clear tube funnel approach. The pump is cheap and makes it a simple clean and straight forward process.

3/8 pipe to 3/8 to hose barb to the bottle. I just used a pump from one of my detailing products. Worked great.

I use a hand pump from Harbor Freight, been using same pump for the last 8 years, nice clear tube with metal J on end and has measurements on it. Put in .58 quarts

Pretty brainless and doesn't get much easier in the spectrum of vehicle maintenance.

Making some fitting to fill the TC through the "DRAIN" hole is well, silly IMO

I mean did you folks read this below??? WTF???

"Take a hand pump and insert the hose into the drain hole. Tape, clean rag, whatever can be used to try to seal the area the best you can"

"Quickly remove the hose and install the drain plug"

Yea no thanks

You guys are missing the point - on the ACD TC's you need to check and recheck several times after filling. Check out TRE's site, he documented it pretty much same as JACKS. If you don't want to try keeping your TC slightly over-filled then move on

The two transfer cases I destroyed on my 03 should be enough data. The one on my 06 is quiet using this method. With my power.

Keep track of how much fluid you're putting in. Problem solved. I've been doing the so-called "dangerous" fill plug method for 3 years with flushes twice a year and my tcase is perfectly fine.

Congrats, you dont want to use this method. The op wasn't asking "should I fill my xfer case this way?". Let it go and move along.

ive been using the fittings I mentioned above for quite a while and everything has worked out fine for me. Keep them somewhere clean is my only recommendation

It has always been that you never just raise the front of the vehicle, the transfer case will be overfull. Well, call me lazy but that is how I do it. And it would be a little overfull. Well, now overfull is the new black. I was just ahead of my time.
