FP3582HTA tune - need to turbo swap

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa8e2a97f.jpg

Above is the link to my car's dyno - Made 406TQ, 530HP @29psi - tuned by AMS.

This dyno was done with a FP3582HTA which pulls super hard when spooled, however, it takes a while (as you can see on the graph) for it to get moving. I'm really only seeing power between 6k & 7k RPMs which doesnt leave much room for useable power. This car was originally stroked to a 2.3L but is now back to a built 2.0L.

I'm looking for a turbo that will give me much more response without too much of a drop off in power. I'm targeting around 480whp with a quick boost response.

I can post complete specs of my car if necessary but the main components are:
280 Kelford Cams
Ported and Polished head with Titanium values
Beehive Titanium springs
HKS twin power ignition module
AEM stand alone
STM radiator support brackets
AMS FMIC with AMS 3” IC piping
Buschur Racing FP3582HTA turbo
Sheer Racing exhaust manifold
Tial BOV and external wastegate
Hallman manual boost controller
Exedy twin disc HD clutch and flywheel
ARP head stud
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure regulator
Perrin Fuel Rail with RC 1000CC injectors
3” down pipe with 3” Invidia exhaust

AMS was recommending a few different variants of the GTX family - namely the GTX3076. I notice a lot of people float more towards the fp red, fp black, and even BBK setups.

Can anyone help me out here and give me some good advice on what turbo I should use? I would like the keep the motor as a built 2.0L

The HTA3582 is one of the fastest spooling 500whp capable turbo on 93 octane and should be spooling a lot faster than that (should hit 300wtq dynojet at around 4500rpm on a built 2L). Personally I think you went to the wrong AMS - the famous record setting AMS is Automotorsports Inc. in Chicago ( http://amsperformance.com) and not Atlantic Motorsports.

Your parts list looks good, did your tuner do a boost leak test before he tuned you?

Oh really? I had no idea that it was the wrong AMS - I thought they were the same company. I went to the one in Gaithersburg MD. I recently bought this car build this way from someone who went to this shop. Ehhh well I live in South NJ - Need to find a good spot local then. So in reality, I have a good turbo - I essentially need a better tune?

The thing I noticed is it is around 800rpm under revved. It looks like it was only revved to 7200-7300 and even on a stock block they should be revving it to 8-8100. Spooling at 5800 is also an indication of something isnt right. WG malfunction, boost leaks, etc. are all things to look at since all the HTA3582 stuff I have done makes 300 ft lbs by 4700 or so and it looks like you are at at 5200...maybe.

...and get a different tuner.

Holy hell... *facepalm* I feel so played but at least the components should be good. I need to find a better place to go asap.

When I get home, I will post a better pic of the dyno.

Anyone familiar with the nj or pa area for tuners?

That's very laggy even for a 2.0L!

You can say that again... I'm on the hunt for a tuner now. I can't find anything so far on the forums.

Can anyone post any dynos they have of their setups with this turbo?

It seems like AMS in MD does good work, but I feel very borderline now.

I will look into those shops you just mentioned. Hope I can figure out what's or see what this thing can really do.

2.1 FP Black dyno on my old setup. The black is a little smaller compared to the 35r but not a huge difference.

Nice! If that's your old setup, what's your new one? Looks like spool is about the same as mine.

Thanks fellas... I still find it hard to believe that its a bad tune though. The guys there seem very legit. I thought the turbo on a small 2.0 was the prob

It's more than the tune. Read what JB and others have said again. There are tons of people running that turbo on a 2.0 making good power and a nice powerband just look for yourself and you'll see.
