Transfercase rebuild?

Anybody have any idea how much torque the stock trans case can handle?

I'm shooting for 400-450 hp and torque and have a exedy HD clutch and a sheps build tranny... should I be worried about the t-case blowing out on me?

Anybody have similar numbers on a stock t-case please share!!!!

Thanks

Will you be launching the car heavily?!

At that power level you should be fine for quite some time.. assuming you're launching the car properly and not at every single stop light you come to. A wavetrac or quaife front LSD would be a suitable upgrade in the future.

I did some autoX last year in august, and did about 10 runs that day and launched pretty much all of them. Right now im at 288 who on a mustang dyno. I don't think ill keep launching at autoX if i'm around 400-450.

I am making around 500whp and over 500ft lbs of torque on a 2.4 long rod motor. I have launched the car without issues. We will see what the upcoming summer brings I guess!

A simple but effective upgrade to the transfer case is to change the case bolts from 8mm to 10mm.
