there is a knocking noise coming from my engine and i have no idea what it could be. if anybody has any idea what it is or could help me out it would be apprecitated.

 

Going to need a lot more specifics. It could be rod knock or other things

 

when cold, hot, both? does it get louder when you rev the engine?

 

Ok My Evo VIII is making a knocking sound, i got worried so i checked my oil, dipstick was showing low, like barely on the dip stick, i added about 2 qts. checked it again, same outcome, decided go ahead and change oil, i unplugged oil pan, about 4 to 5 quarts came out. checked for metal shavings, none. Completed the Oil Change with Lucas, still hear knocking. Itll Knock for about a min or so, then stop, the start back up about 30 sec later. If anyone can help please enlighten me
