thinking about swapping my 6466

I just bought a ix with a stock motor and ams 6466 v-band turbo kit. It is making 470hp on e85. The car is pretty quick but it doesn't reach full boost till about 5600rpm.

My plans for the car are pretty limited. I'm going to have it tuned on pump with the goal of making 425-450hp. This is my daily so I'm not looking for anything crazy.

I know the 6466 can handle a heck of a lot more power than I plan to run. I'm thinking about trying to trade my turbo for something smaller that will spool quicker and still make adequate power. I want to keep tq below 350 so the motor will last.

Would you keep the 6466 or go with something else? If you'd go with something else what would it be? Keep in mind it has to be v-band.

a GTX or HTA3076 is a great option as well. Very capable of 400+ whp on pump gas.

If your looking for a smaller turbo that can be switched out with the 6466 with no issues or changing parts. Go with the same precision turbo. 5858 will be perfect for your goals.

Yeah I'd trade for something like a 5858 that would be a direct swap with my setup. If I can't find a trade I'll definitely sell.

Looking at prices I think I should be able to sell the 6466 for as much or more as a new 5858.

Depends if you want journal or ball bearing. A journal bearing 5858 is about 1100 and BB is 1700. You should be able to sell that 6466 for 1000-1400 easy, depending on condition

Not sure on price differences but you can't beat a stock frame turbo with regards to spool and still reach your torque goals. FP red will easily get you there, maybe even a green would suit your goals.

You would have to search for dyno comparisons, but I would think it would spool a few hundreds quicker. Maybe 4800-5000 full boost

Yeah I've thought about those as well. The thing is that I need something that will swap over without any modification. Not sure if these will swap over or not.
