Haha we could have been twins had I went. So now I feel like Im back to square one and leaning towards it being that paper gasket. Here I am thinking maybe it wasnt sitting properly but as Im trying to remember mounting it back up I don't recall it making a connection with anything on the bottom.

What if if leaking at the filler neck? I've gone through a few thermostats and never sealed that up just simply unbolted the 3 bolts and bolted it back up. Maybe that needs some sort of sealant as well?

Does your only spew out when you are properly driving the car aka giving her a beatdown or will it happen during normal dd conditions as well? In my case its only when Im beating on the car.

Silver- no worries bud you are just trying to help and Im glad you linked those pages. I have another gasket so I think Im going to swap it again this weekend. I will be sure to lay a bead of silicon down. While were on the topic what type of silicon would you recommend? I've got the typical black permatex RTV that I use when R&R my valve cover. I feel like that is more geared towards oil though...

Based on the spray pattern I don't think it's dripping onto the temp sensor. There's dry coolant on the t-stat housing above it where it shouldn't be getting sprayed by a leak at the t-stat housing to soft line connection. I would check the upper connection of hose #18 and where it mates to the hard line. Also check the inside of the bend on the hard line for coolant spray.

Thank you Kevin, I will take a closer look after I eat dinner. I appreciate the forensic advice, you must be a detective by trade

Don't thank me unless it was the culprit and even then it's just a SWAG. I'm not a detective but I am an engineer (choo choo).

So I didn't find any tears or obvious marks but I did happen to notice that I was able to slide that rubber hose onto the hard line on the turbo back about an inch. The spring clamp was holding it down and there is a bead/ lip on the end of the hard lines so its not like it was about to come off but its had worked its way down a little. I slid it upward as much as I could hoping that'll resolve the seal if there is an issue with it

I will take a look after my commute to work tomorrow and see if my line shimmying resolved the issue. If the spray pattern looks different then at least I know the culprit and Ill just need a new hose and clamps. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Regardless, I appreciate your help

I'm feeling confident that you were spot on. Its still spraying but if I yank on that connection it moves around a little so I think the hose has deteriorated over time. There are no rips or anything but it doesnt seem to make a proper seal anymore. I just ordered a new hose and new spring clamps and will swap it when they arrive and hope that was my issue.

Tunah- check your line and confirm that its nice and tight.

I am your long lost twin that has the same problem as you! (other evo at starting line that tunah attended)

Same exact spray location and pattern but on a black intercooler pipe. lol

Glad I stumbled upon this thread. I will have to poke around those turbo coolant lines as well.

Do yourselves a favor and change all your coolant lines while doing a clutch job or something. That's what I did at about 80k miles and I'm not worried a bit about coolant leaks. I think somewhere around 80-100k is a good time to be replacing rubber parts.

There are only so many coolant lines under the hood.

2 radiator hoses
2 turbo hoses
2 intake hoses
2 heater core hoses

and I think that's about it!

Just change the spring clamp with worm clamps and not have to worry about it again

I will let you know if the issue is resolved when I get home from work tonight. I swapped the line over the weekend but I just had surgery so I really didnt get a chance to take the car out for a beatdown run.

I was hoping to do so this morning on my commute to work but its was a monsoon out there so I didnt really have a good opportunity. Hopefully tonight I will be able to open her up and confirm. I will keep you all posted!

I was able to open the car up on my ride home from work tonight and I am happy to say that so far so good!

Thanks to all who chimed in; I appreciate all of your help.

I will be at Devens on Saturday so I will report back after to confirm that its still completely dry.

FWIW I inspected my coolant hose and I'm still not seeing any pinholes in it. My thought is that either the rubber over time deteriorated, became a little harder and no longer made a tight seal to the hard line. My other thought is that my spring clamps wore out over time after repeated removal. Worm clamps in lieu of the spring clamps is probably a good idea but I ended up picking up two new spring clamps when I purchased the hose.

My line actually deteriorated and threw out all the coolant. It was fantastic.

Glad we were able to figure out the issue though. These cars do some weird ****.

Lol that sounds like fun! Luckily for me it was just a slow leak.

Oh and I had another fun ride into work today and checked it when I got into the parking lot and still no coolant loss! I hate to jump the gun but I'm feeling more and more confident we cracked the case. Now if only I could figure out my oil leak...

My oil leak was coming from
1) cam seal
2) cam position sensor shield was loose.

Let's see how many of my issues are common with EVO's hahahha
