So my car had the 2.4 oil housing on it which didnt have a oil cooler setup. So i got a housing and went to install it but i noticed it had 3 ports on it. one of top and then two on the bottom. now i know the cooler lines need to go to the right one in this picture and the top one (not pictured), but what is the 3rd port for on the left in the picture?

The gold plug your talking about is the T-stat, its a Tomei one.
That is not the port i am talking about, i am talking about the open port on the left.

 

that one is normally plugged. someone was feeding turbo with it
