Evo 9 Cosworth Head

Hello Guys,

I have bought from a supplier a cosworth head only to be disappointed that the bore size that I requested was not done. They offered that they can do it them self. I requested that they send me a picture before they ship it.

Would like to know your opinion? or

If the mistake was theirs, they should fix it or issue you a refund. I am sure you paid a premium for that head, no reason for you to live with it being "wrong".

Or is the issue that you do not have confidence in their ability to correct it?

From the picture that they sent me I am making an opinion.
The CNC lines on the combustion chamber do not look right. They are disturbed. Usually if something made by cosworth they should be perfect. IMO.

I just want to know if this is something normal or I am over reacting to this?

Cosworth head is expensive one. I know that because recently i bought one. First of all don’t worry and be calm . Contact Cosworth directly, send the photo and explain them everything. All big companies always reply. Good luck…

I am not dealing with cosworth directly. I am dealing with another supplier. which I do not want to say the name on the forum.

All I need to know if you guys see any something which is not very normal in the picture attached.

First you said the item was not made to spec, but your followup replies seem to imply that you are unsatisfied with the "look" to the machine work.

Did you buy it through an authorized Cosworth distributor/dealer? http://www.cosworth.com/contact/dist...ormance-parts/

If so, then you can rest assured that you are going to get a quality piece.

If not, then that feeling in your stomach telling you something is not right should be listened to.

All Cosworth stuff likely comes with a part/serial number of some sort that you can verify. Maybe see if they can provide you that to call Cosworth to double check with.

Yes the head has the Cosworth logo machined on it and i bought it of an official supplier (partbox).
What i found strange was that the valves are enlarged to +1mm however the valve seat inner diameter is not. So there is a small step between the port and the valve seat.
Is this also visable on the Subaru head ?

May be part of the Newen valve seating tooling, Check this video out and watch the amount of material taken out.
