Anyone Tried Using an 4G64 Crank on their Rebuilt without doing Balancing?

Hi,
do anyone tried using an used 4G64 Crankshaft on their 2.3L Rebuilt without doing Balancing?

I know doing Full Engine Balancing is beneficial, but just wonder how many actual Evo's owner didnt do it during their built.

for a budget build, that's not going to pushed super hard, and raced, and revved to hell... I think it's an acceptable calculated risk. Plenty of people have done it. You're accepting it could have unseen fractures, bad balance, etc.

The way I treat my car, I won't put an aftermarket crank in without balancing it.

Hi STG, thanks for sharing but do you go for full balancing or just the crankshaft?

Unless it's a low powered car that never gets driven hard, I wouldn't consider skipping this. I paid only $150 for balancing the whole rotating assembly on my 2.3L. Balancing 1 item means nothing and is a waste of $$.

2.3 with no balance shafts have a lot of vibration as is, why would you not balance it?
Not like it is an expensive thing to do.....

Sure you can get away with this because it's not a V6 or V8.

As long as the rotating assembly matches weight, sure why not, you know trying to make a million horsepower.

Are you?

Hi OkEvolution, thanks for sharing and the reason i enquire about balancing the crank is not bcos of budget, but its mainly due to the expertize on the full balancing by the machine shops here.

Hi MSEngineering, thanks for sharing as my targeted whp is 400whp.

Crossing my finger for now for not doing the full balancing...
