Question..... i was driving my 2003 evo 8 on the highway and suddenly i heard a loud pop. my rear wheels lock and skid me off the highway. Lucky i didnt crash into no one, the car turned off and everything. i turned the car back on and it started up fine,put it in gear but it wont move, can any body help me and lmk what you think it could be? is it the transfer case? rear diff/ halfshaft?

 

Could be rear diff or tcase, but I suspect tcase, as most likely do. If you can raise the rear wheels off the ground, you might be able to tell. Disconnecting the driveshaft from the rear diff will definitely get you there. If you can still turn the rear axle at the pinion, and not be able to turn the driveshaft, the tcase is the cause. If the driveshaft still turns but the pinion will not, rear diff is the cause.
