Wet piston top

I was changing the plugs on my IX MR today and was shining a light down the spark plug holes, noticed the top piston of cylinder 2 was wet while all others are dry...

I'm also having an issue with it smoking at start up, but only for a second or 2.
Just a quick puff, then it's completely gone.

I consume maybe half a quart every 3k+ miles.
Doesn't burn at WOT, idle, decel, etc.

What's up?

Sounds like it could possibly be a leaking valve stem seal. Can you tell if the wetness on your piston is oil, fuel or coolant?

Kind of what I'm thinking.

Feels like oil smells kind of like oil/fuel

It most likely is taking account for the oil consumption. But it could also possibly be a leaking injector. So you shut off your engine your still going to have fuel rail pressure and if you've got a bad injector its going to leak past and dribble into your cylinder and mix in with your carbon deposits on your piston making it look/feel oily... Just a thought. How does your engine run? Any issues?

Thanks for the info!

The car runs strong, although I don't think it's liking these new spark plugs...

Yes I sent my injectors away for inspection, spray pattern on 2 of them were none nearly none existent due to dirt in the injectors. So had them sonic blasted. Came back and problem solved.
